Ortoplus’ innovative nylon splints for bruxism and temporomandibular joint disorders

  • Improved quality of life for 75,000 patients worldwide
  • High dimensional accuracy of less than ±0.1 mm to enhance the fit and comfort of the splints
  • 300% increase in production capacity without hiring additional staff
  • Reduced human error through a more flexible digital design workflow

Since introducing custom-made bite splints and MADs produced with PA 12 and EOS 3D printing technology, Ortoplus has seen significant improvements in the quality of life for patients suffering from bruxism and sleep apnea. To date, the OrthoApnea product alone has helped 75,000 patients alleviate their sleep apnea symptoms. Ortoplus achieved this by manufacturing personalized medical devices with consistently high quality.

The OrthoApnea solution has been approved as a medical device by several major regulatory bodies, including the FDA in the United States, the MDD in the EU, the MDEL in Canada, and the TGA in Australia.

Compared to conventional manufacturing, 3D printing enabled a threefold increase in production capacity while maintaining reproducible and precise output quality – all without the need for additional personnel. The ability to design devices digitally significantly reduced the risk of human error in production while expanding design possibilities. The devices also featured a high dimensional accuracy of less than ±0.1 mm, which greatly improved the fit and comfort of the splints, contributing to overall patient satisfaction and treatment effectiveness.
