AM Expo symposium imparts practical expertise
At the AM Expo symposium, experts will shed light on current trends, technologies, and applications in additive manufacturing. Visitors will gain first-hand knowledge in thematically structured blocks.
The AM Expo symposium offers a multifaceted program on both days. In thematically structured blocks, experts will discuss current developments, challenges, and opportunities in additive manufacturing.
Focus on technology
On Tuesday morning, the symposium will open with the panel discussion «AM Update». In this discussion, various experts will present the current state of industrial use of additive manufacturing processes. Which trends are relevant? Where is the industry headed? And what does this mean for visitors? The discussion will provide answers from different perspectives.
This will be followed by the «Advanced Manufacturing» block. In his keynote speech “The Next Level of Modern Manufacturing: The AI Factor,” Julian Waldmann from Siemens will highlight how AI is changing the design and production process from concept to production.
The afternoon will focus on two key topics: «Part quality» and «Sustainability». For example, Stefan Czerner from ZHAW will explain how temperature recordings during the construction process can be used to ensure component quality. The presentations will then address the question of how additive manufacturing can contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions, what impact EU regulations have, and how climate targets can be achieved.
Specific practical applications
Wednesday will focus on specific applications. For example, David Omidvarkarjan from the IWK Institute for Materials Technology and Plastics Processing will use a use case in the «Mechanical Engineering» section to show how a newly developed 5-axis 3D printer from OST is opening up new perspectives for lightweight construction and functional integration in mechanical engineering.
The rest of the day will feature presentations on applications in automation technology, robotics, and additive manufacturing in medical technology. In his keynote speech, Professor Florian M. Thieringer from the University Hospital Basel will show how mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing are revolutionizing everyday clinical practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University Hospital Basel.
Finally, the panel discussion «Evolution – Revolution – Illusion» will address the question of how profoundly additive manufacturing has actually changed. Participants will discuss which applications have become established and which hurdles still remain. At the same time, the question remains as to how realistic expectations of the process were and what development steps still lie ahead.
Deepen your knowledge and make contacts
The AM Expo symposium not only offers knowledge, but also the opportunity for personal exchange. After each thematic block, there will be a «Meet the speakers» session where interested parties can discuss what they have heard with the speakers. The AM Expo thus creates an ideal setting for making new contacts, discussing current challenges, and working together on solutions for the future.
Attendance at the symposium is included in the trade fair ticket.
