URMA Experience Center: Competence center for 3D printing & manufacturing

URMA Experience Center – a competence center for industrial manufacturing – is being built in Mägenwil. Construction is continuing according to plan following the ground-breaking ceremony and excavation. Exhibition space for 3D printing and CNC machines as well as rooms for training and technology.

The 3600 m² property in the “Büntli” industrial and commercial zone in Mägenwil is ideal for URMA's new Experience Center, which, in addition to office space, also offers a spacious exhibition area for CNC machines, 3D printers, post-processing machines and other products in the machining sector. In a modern showroom, interested parties can experience the various machines up close and gain a comprehensive insight into additive manufacturing (3D printing) along the entire production chain. The spatial concept also includes meeting rooms and an auditorium that will be used for training, technology transfer and events.

The construction of the Experience Center will create the largest center of excellence for industrial 3D printing in Switzerland. As a family-owned company, regional roots are important: “We are very happy to have found the ideal location for our second headquarters in the Mägenwil industrial park,” says Yannick Berner, Co-CEO URMA.

October 2024: Excavation is complete

The first milestone has been reached: the excavation for the new Experience Center in Mägenwil is complete. Now the construction work for the competence center can officially begin!

August 2024: The groundbreaking ceremony has taken place

With the groundbreaking ceremony on August 21, 2024, the construction work for the second Swiss URMA site has officially begun. This is another important step for URMA in building the Experience Center and keeping us on schedule.

The construction of this center will create the most important center of excellence for industrial 3D printing in Switzerland. “This new building is of great importance to us and underlines the innovative strength of the Canton of Aargau. By working closely with the Canton of Aargau, universities and research institutions, we are creating a unique transfer center for innovation and additive manufacturing,” says Yannick Berner, Co-CEO URMA.

Sustainability as a corporate goal for new builds too

Sustainability is an integral part of URMA's corporate goals. Sustainability also plays a central role in the construction of the new Experience Center: the Experience Center will be equipped with a photovoltaic system that will cover 100% of the site's energy requirements from its own production. In addition, a geothermal probe in combination with a modern heat pump will ensure energy-efficient heating and cooling of the building. With these measures, URMA is consistently pursuing the goal of minimizing the ecological footprint of the new site and contributing to the promotion of renewable energies.
The Experience Center in Mägenwil will therefore not only be a place for technological innovation and progress, but also a showcase project for environmentally conscious construction and sustainable corporate development.
