3D Printing Meets Design: EXT Titan Pellet for Modern Furniture

Model No. creates sustainable, made-to-order furniture using recycled wood, bio-resin, and 3D printing – a closed-loop process that saves resources and minimizes waste.

The California-based company Model No. is setting new standards in sustainable furniture production. By using 3D Systems’ EXT Titan Pellet 3D printers, the company manages to manufacture high-quality design furniture in a resource-efficient and local manner.

As part of the project “Endless Loop: From Waste to Wanted,” Model No. processes regional wood waste into bio-resin pellets, which are then formed into unique furniture pieces through 3D printing. This closed production cycle minimizes waste and significantly reduces the ecological footprint.

An example of this is the “Gather Stool,” whose components are made from recycled wood material and produced on the EXT 1070 Titan Pellet printer. All materials used are renewable, biodegradable, and sustainably certified. Model No. produces exclusively on demand, avoiding inventory and conserving resources.

The combination of digital design, local 3D printing, and sustainable materials enables the company to efficiently and environmentally implement individual customer requests. With this innovative approach, Model No. demonstrates how modern technology and sustainability can go hand in hand to shape the future of the furniture industry.
